Local Funding News Through Twitter

If you’ve got your head around Twitter, we recommend you follow East Sussex County Council Community feed which has lots of information on funding and grant opportunities in the East Sussex region:

Another fun idea if you’re planning an event and need some supporters is to use the hashtag #wewillgather.co.uk.  Following on from the London riots clean-up campaign which was driven by Twitter, this new initiative aims to get volunteers together quickly for short projects in the community.

These two ideas show that Twitter has a lot to offer not-for-profit groups with help on funding, volunteering and plenty of advice on the Third Sector.  A great introduction to Twitter, published by SCIP last year, written by Mark Walker called Get to Grips with Twitter should give you many more reasons to sign up.

If you’d like to know more about marketing and PR using social media, SCIP with Social Media consultant Caroline Sutton, can help you with staff training, social media consultations and run low-cost courses as part of our services to charities and community groups.
